Today the children in the green team were learning about Blue Tits. They learned that a female Blue Tit lays 8-10 eggs and each chick can eat around 100 caterpillars a day. That’s approximately 20,000 caterpillars in the three week period from hatching and fledging. The oldest known Blue Tit was 10 years, 3 months and 10 days old although the typical lifespan is 3 years.
